Single

Hannah Dawn

Perhaps you've seen her picture on here a time or two, well this my fellow followers is my younger sister, Hannah Dawn. I took these pictures of her on/for her 14th birthday. Now, because this is a blog and is a bit less sophisticated I am going to take a second and share a story with you. If you are not one for stories, I kindly advise you to stop reading now. :)
Hannah's birthday to me is not just an ordinary birthday celebration for me. It is a day I will cherish forever. I remember being at the hospital when my parents announced that my sister was HERE!  I was seven at the time.
Growing up, more than anything, I the youngest of two girls, wanted to be a big sister myself. So I like most small children began to beg my parents to have another baby. Night after night it was always the same question: "Mom, Dad, can you have another baby so I can please be a big sister?" and their answer was always the same. "No". Now harsh as it may seem, it wasn't that my parents didn't want to have anymore children, it was that they were no longer physically able too.
One night as I again begged them to have another child my mom stood in my doorway after kissing me good night and told me that if I really wanted to be a big sister I ought to pray and ask God for a little brother or sister. At the time I'm not sure if she was being completely serious, but I being six believed if anyone could make anything happen, it was God. (oh to have child like faith like that again). So i prayed, and I prayed, and I prayed. Then one day a phone call...
January 12, 1997 my little sister hannah was born and was adopted into our family. It was an unlikely situation, but I believe God gave me my little sister. Thus I tease her constantly that she is mine, because God brought her here for me. :).
To me her birthday doesn't just mark the celebration of her being brought into this world it also marks the day God answered the sincere prayer of an earnest child. It stands as a landmark in my life when I look back and say, He loved me enough to do that not just for her, but for me. :)

Engagement Session

[soon to be] Mr. & Mrs. Brown

From behind my lens I could see the twinkles in their eyes. It's always refreshing to see two people completely in love, because no matter how hard you try you can't help but smile when you see the way that they look at each other. It was hard to pick which photos were my favorite. There were so many pictures where they were gazing at one another or giggling at small things that I happenned to catch at just the right moment. So many times you hear "love knows no age". This shoot reminded me of just that. You WILL be seeing their wedding photos here soon so keep a look out. For more from this engagement session visit the ALY facebook.

Couples Session

Todd and Michelle

As two friends of my own, I have to say I am slightly bias when I compliment this couple. :) They were playful and insightful as far as what they wanted and that's always great during a session. I am a firm believer that you can not "pose" great pictures. Most of my favorites from this session are photos of them just being themselves. For more please visit the ALY photography facebook.

Couples Session

Zach and Whitney

This fun loving couple made taking great shots extremly easy. Their charisma and chemistry were easy to see... perhaps they'll be booking an engagement session soon? :) On the bussiness side of things, while I did enjoy taking my usual "grassy field" type photo's  it was also wonderful to be able to incorporate Zach's collegic hockey playing into the session. As you'll see below I have chosen a few of my favorite photos to share here on the ALY photography blog. For more photos from this session please visit the ALY photography facebook. Enjoy y'all!
