Hannah

photo location: Marfa, TX

Above is my favorite photo from this two-part photo session with my younger sister. I appreciate her willingness to help pose for me as I began experimenting with portraits. To show my appreciation I am also posting a picture of the most MEMORABLE moment during our shoot.

photo location: Marfa, TX

I say that this picture was the "most memorable moment" because of the story behind it. At this point in the photo shoot I had asked Hannah to flair her skirt out the way they did in the olden days to 'curtsey'. This she did do, and I snapped a picture, but a few seconds later when she thought I wasn't paying attention she began to sing "I'm a little teapot short and stout..." so naturally I began to snap away hoping to catch a sill expression on her face. I did not, but I somehow managed (I'll admit after asking her to do it again) to get this wonderful shot. So a special thanks to Hannah for helping out, and for making me laugh while doing what I love.

What To Expect From ALY Photography

Here is my philosophy on photography:

It's not the camera or who's behind it that makes an image spectacular, it's about what's in front of it.

As a photographer I like to take a different approach when it comes to my photo sessions. For starters, most of my shoots take place outdoors so it is important to remember to dress accordingly. If you feel uncomfortable during your session for any reason it WILL show up in your pictures no matter how much I try to edit the images.
Another things I like to do is incorporate things that are important to you and your family in the images as well. For example, if you are a couple looking for engagement photo's I may have you answer a short five question survey about yourselves. A question I might ask would be something like: "where did you meet" or "where was your first date". If your answer is something along the lines of "at a football game" I may try to get a few photos of the two of you on the 50 yard line of a local high school football field. I will not always be able to re-create every memory, but it is a fun angle for photo sessions.
